The current RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC has been replaced by the new one published on 8 June 2011, “new approach” directive RoHS 2011/65/EU (so-called RoHS 2).
What is RoHS?
RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) – Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
The regulations governing the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment impose on producers, suppliers and retailers the obligation to demonstrate the compliance of goods with the regulations. The RoHS Directive covers by its action the restrictions at the production stage in the introduction of the hazardous substances in electronics.
